GHSA State Championships Day 2: Georgia targets to monitor
The GHSA State Championships are back on today, and over the course of the next couple of days, we’re taking a look at the names you need to watch from the Georgia perspective in the matchups of the best the Peach State has to offer.
1:00 PM – Northeast vs. Toombs County – A Division I
Not a star studded matchup from the Georgia perspective here, but if you’d like to watch a guy Georgia will play against in the future, Toombs County safety Lagonza Hayward is headed to Florida after being earlier committed to Tennessee. The Dawgs offered chase throughout, but it just never came to fruition.
4:00 PM – Burke County vs. Carver-Columbus – AA
Carver-Columbus has a few names you’ll want to keep eyes on, though none hold an offer from the Bulldogs at this point.
The big name in this one is Tristian Givens, the nation’s No. 45 overall prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings. At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, he’s one of the elite EDGE prospects in the cycle and suitors include Florida State, Auburn, and Southern California. Right now, the Seminoles hold a heavy lean in the Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Dawgs aren’t in the mix right now, but it’s not hard to believe they could enter the race in this one.
2026 offensive guard Parker Pritchett has schools such as Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Tennessee already in with offers. At 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, it’s not hard to see why. The three-star prospect is currently projected to Auburn by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Wide receiver Kei’Maurii Miles is a guy who’s attracting some looks on the recruiting trail, including from the likes of Memphis.
The same goes for running back Kelston Tarver. Minnesota, Central Michigan, and UMass are in the mix for him early on.

2027 offensive tackle Terrance Warren has Mississippi State, Louisville, and Texas A&M already calling. He’s already almost 6-foot-4 and 325-plus pounds as a sophomore, so his ceiling has probably not even been explored yet.
7:00 PM – Langston Hughes vs. Milton – AAAAA
The main event of the night is a who’s who for names to follow, particularly when it comes to Georgia commits.
Milton wide receiver CJ Wiley was one of the biggest wins of the cycle for the Bulldogs, and the big bodied pass catcher has plenty of folks ready to see him in Athens. The same is true of tight end Ethan Barbour, who’s been a majorly featured part for the Eagles’ offense this year, and was one of the longest tenured commits of the Dawgs’ Class of 2025. He’s a very talented pass catcher in his own right.
Milton’s 2027 tight end Grant Haviland is a future name you’ll want to be tuned into, as well, as he has plenty of early attention.
From the Langston Hughes side of things, Georgia offensive guard commit Dontrell Glover features for the Panthers. Meanwhile, 2026 tight end Xavier Tiller is a Texas A&M commit who held a Georgia offer when he committed.
