Indy 500 Drivers have the perfect blue print to win in Speedway, Indiana this weekend. Georgia football already showed everyone how to reach victory lane at the National Championship in Indy earlier this year.

So if you’re an Indy 500 driver, and you want to taste that sweet, cool, milk, take note.

These championship tips will have you takin’ checkers and kissin’ the bricks.

Strap in.

Let’s race down memory lane, on a trip to victory lane.

Indy 500 Drivers should run hard, like Georgia football running backs did

Georgia football ran and ran and ran down Alabama‘s defensive front. It’s RBU, after all.

Even though Georgia finished with 140 rushing yards – the second-most against Alabama all season – it wasn’t as easy as it looked. The eventual champs only had 30 of those yards at halftime.

The Dawgs’ rushing attack didn’t give up this plan of attack, though, even after some tough sledding early.

Zamir White put the hammer down to score the game’s first touchdown – in the third quarter.

Don’t let up. Keep the hammer down. Even if the lanes aren’t there early in the race.

Georgia football running backs also knew how to draft

Georgia’s running backs don’t do it alone, of course.

They knew how to draft behind the teammates in front of them.

James Cook demonstrates the patience here to conserve energy, follow what’s in front of him, and then accelerate.

Pass when the opportunity presents itself

You’ll know it when you see it.

Maybe it’s a pass inside. Maybe it’s to the outside.

Stetson Bennett put Georgia in a lot of positions to do either one. Whenever and wherever the window is there, you have to execute without being afraid of disaster. But he pulled off his biggest passes when they mattered most.

Like this one to A.D. Mitchell, which gave Georgia the lead for good:

Cover every possible lane of attack

Lewis Cine was like velcro on Alabama’s offense.

Nakobe Dean and Channing Tindall combined to keep Bryce Young honest.

Kelee Ringo took the checkered flag at the end.

You must be defensive, and shut down your opponents’ attempts to pass and run.

Georgia’s historically great defense put five players in the first round of the NFL Draft, and they showed what they were all about against Alabama, holding the Tide to a season-low 18 points.

Don’t let a setback take you out of the race

Georgia appeared to fumble the game away on a questionable call that went against Stetson Bennett.

Alabama took the lead.

It didn’t matter. If it’s your day, it’s your day.

You may lose the lead or the momentum for a few laps, but you must never lose hope on your way to victory lane.

One more tip: celebrate like hell.

It’s not like you win one of these every year.

Give my little podcast a follow, would ya? Marty Smith and I have you covered leading up to this year’s Indianapolis 500, with a visit from talented driver Graham Rahal.
