ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia’s dealing with a few injuries this week as the Bulldogs begin their SEC gauntlet. UGA will head to Lexington, Kentucky for a matchup with the Wildcats, and from what Kirby Smart said on Monday, it sounds like a few of its banged up players should be good to go.

Tight end Oscar Delp went down during the first half with an ankle injury. He returned to the field shortly after but emerged from the locker room after halftime with tennis shoes on instead of cleats and without a helmet in hand.

Luckily, the injury isn’t too serious according to Smart. The head coach thought he could’ve gone back in, and on Monday, he shared another positive update.

“Oscar’s good. Oscar’s fine,” Smart said.

Delp isn’t the only player that went down with an injury on Saturday. Freshmen Nate Frazier and Nasir Johnson did as well. Like Delp, Smart doesn’t view either injury as longtime.

“Nasir had a little bit of a sublux he’s had before. Should be fine,” Smart said on Johnson Monday during his weekly press conference.

“He (Frazier) could have come back, and we ended up holding him out. I’m not even sure it’s a shoulder, but I don’t know what significance,” he added Saturday on Smart. “They came over to me and said he’s ready to go back in, but at that point we were moved on.”

As for the Georgia players that were held out of action on Saturday – defensive linemen Mykel Williams and Warren Brinson – their status remains uncertain for this week. Both are dealing with ankle injuries. According to Smart, the Bulldogs are hopeful Brinson will be able to practice on Monday while Williams will need to practice in order to be available.

“He looks good. Hopefully will be able to go today,” Smart said on Brinson. “We’ll find out more. Honestly don’t know until we get out there. He did some stuff yesterday in the weight room.”

“He’s got to be able to practice, got to run, put pressure on it,” Smart added on Williams. “He’s doing a great job of rehab. He did a great job this weekend of getting extra time in, and we’ll see where he’s at.”

A full availability report for this Saturday’s game will be available from the SEC on Wednesday. Updates will be shared each day after that with a final report coming from the conference 90 minutes before kickoff.
