DawgsHQ has been able to confirm what was first reported by Anthony Dasher of UGASports that Georgia basketball forward Jailyn Ingram is in the process of pursuing another year of eligibility. Ingram, who transferred to Georgia last season as a super-senior, suffered a season-ending knee injury on December 7 that cut his season short at just nine games. He confirmed via text that he’s seeking his eligibility through an NCAA waiver, wanting to leave a legacy at Georgia despite only being in Athens for two seasons.

“It’s a fresh start with some familiar faces,” Ingram said. “Coaches and players. I want to be successful here.”

Prior to his injury, Ingram was averaging 10.7 points per game and a team-high 6.0 rebounds each outing. He notched seven double-figure scoring performances in that time, and though he did not lead Georgia in scoring in any game, it was the most double-digit performances by any Bulldog to that point in the season. Four times he led the Bulldogs in rebounds including 12 against Virginia. That remained the single-game high even after his injury.

Ingram, a native of Madison, Ga., spent his first five seasons of College Basketball at Florida Atlantic where he started 105 of 121 games played and compiled 1,334 points and 630 rebounds while shooting 44.5 percent overall and 36.1 percent from 3-point range for the Owls. Among FAU’s career statistical leaders, Ingram finished his career in Boca Raton ranked No. 6 in scoring (1,334 points), No. 3 in rebounds (630), No. 3 in field goals made (521) and No. 6 in field goals attempted (1170). He’s one of just two players in program history to record both 1,000 points and 600 rebounds.

If Ingram is granted the extra year of eligibility, he would join rising junior Jabri Abdur-Rahim and super-senior Braelen Bridges in returning from Georgia’s 2021-22 roster. Georgia’s other players either are out of eligibility or have entered the transfer portal. The Bulldogs went 6-26 and saw head coach Tom Crean fired at season’s end. He has since been replaced by Mike White.
