Jalen Carter reportedly pleaded no contest to his misdemeanor reckless driving and racing charges, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.

As a result, Carter will reportedly serve 12 months of probation. He also faces a $1,000 fine, 80 hours of community service and will have to attend a state-approved course for defensive driving.

Schlabach’s report comes from Jalen Carter’s attorney, Kim Stephens.

According to Stephens, the state can not bring any additional charges against Carter in connection with the wreck.

“We are happy that we were able to work with the Solicitor General’s office to reach a resolution that was fair and just based on the evidence in this case. Mr. Carter continues to grieve for the loss of his friends and continues to pray for their families, as well as for the continued healing for injured friends,” Stephens told ESPN.

Jalen Carter’s attorney says he did not cause the fatal wreck that took the lives of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy

Stephens provided an additional statement to ESPN about her client’s lack of culpability in the crash.

Athens-Clarke County Police alleged that Carter’s car was racing the SUV that LeCroy drove during the wreck. Police also indicated that LeCroy’s vehicle hit 104 MPH before leaving the road, hitting two power poles and multiple trees.

“If the investigation had determined otherwise,” Stephens’s statement said, “Mr. Carter would have been charged with the far more serious offenses of vehicular homicide and serious injury by vehicle under Georgia law, both felony offenses, and would have faced a lengthy prison sentence.”

Stephens also told ESPN that Carter did not leave the scene of the wreck without police permission.

“Even after being informed that he could leave, Mr. Carter returned to the scene at the request of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department to answer additional questions and continued to cooperate in the investigation.”

Stephens says Carter was not drinking alcohol or under the influence of any other illegal substances.

The plea comes one day after Carter’s Pro Day workout in front of 32 NFL franchises’ scouts

DawgsHQ discussed Jalen Carter’s workout on Wednesday night’s live episode of The Georgia Show.

Carter showed up nine pounds heavier than his NFL Combine weigh-in. He did not do any physical workouts in Indianapolis.

He failed to complete multiple drills due to cramping in Athens on Wednesday.

Despite the rough workout, Carter is still widely regarded as a first-round NFL Draft pick.
