Just one year after transferring to Georgia from VCU, Jalen DeLoach will once again be looking for a new school to call home. On3’s Joe Tipton reports that he plans to enter the portal.

The 6-foot-9 DeLoach made appearances in 32 games for the Bulldogs this season, starting six while averaging 3.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. DeLoach came the closest to double-figure scoring with nine points in the non-conference schedule against North Florida, topping out at eight points twice in SEC play including once in one of his starts.

“He’s a guy who doesn’t bring as much girth, but in regard to activity, and length, he’s got great wheels for a big, can really change ends, and he’s a switchable guy, too, really, one through five,” Georgia head coach Mike White said about DeLoach during the season.

Prior to his single season in Athens, the Savannah, Ga. native appeared in 65 career contests at VCU  including 32 starts as a sophomore for the Rams. In 24.5 minutes per game in 2022-23, DeLoach scored an average of 9.7 points and brought in 6.9 rebounds. He recorded 19 double-figure scoring outputs and six double-digit rebounding totals during his time in the Atlantic-10, combining the two for a double-double five times while helping VCU to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. DeLoach was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team that season.

DeLoach will have one year of eligibility remaining at his school of choice. He is the first Georgia player to enter the portal this cycle after the Bulldogs saw three do so last year, being forced to replace them with a total of nine newcomers on the 2023-24 squad.
