For James Cook, the opportunity to represent the Bulldogs, specifically the running back room, at the next level is not lost on him.

“It’s RBU,” Cook said during an appearance on the NFL Network. “It’s a standard we uphold in the room, and everyone just works in that room and gets better each and every day. It’s exciting to be a part of that.”

He will expect to see his and several of his Bulldog brethren chosen over the course of the draft, and while they are all competitors, they’re bonding over their brotherhood in red and black first and foremost.

“We ain’t talked about that,” Cook said of competition among the former Dawgs as to who will come off draft boards first. “I know some of the guys that are going in the first round, and I’m excited for them. I want to see where they go to. We’re all competitive and want to see where each other gets to go at the end of the day. We’re happy for each other.”

James Cook looks at this potential NFL future

While he’s not worried about position in draft, James Cook is curious to see how it all plays out in the end.

“Just moreso, I want to see where I want to go. That’s what I’m excited about. I want to see what city I get to and just play football after that,” he said.

What would make for a good fit at the next level?

“I would like to be with a great quarterback like Tom Brady or Russell Wilson and those types of guys, so I can learn the game and go forward from there,” Cook said.

In the meantime, he’s relying on his older brother and Vikings running back, Dalvin, for advice on managing the process.

He’s also looking forward to meeting his sibling on the gridiron.

“We’re competitive. Like I’ve told him, when we play, I want to be mic’ed up for that game. I want to be able to talk crazy to him,” Cook said. “We’re very competitive, and I respect him as an older brother and him being a good running back in the league. He’s just showing me the way. I’m leaning on him.”

Cook was also open as to where he might have an edge over his older brother.

“I’ve got good soft hands,” he said. “I can catch out the backfield a little better than he can.”
