Jordan Davis delivered from the Braves’ mound at ‘Champions Day.’

The Braves can’t say the same thus far this season.

Davis and Vince Dooley attended the game and led its Braves World Series / Georgia National Championship pregame festivities before a loss to the Nationals.

Coach Dooley roared with a wonduhfully Southuhn, ‘Play Ball!’

It was all downhill after Jordan Davis delivered a perfect sinker to the mitt behind home plate, in the shadow of mascots Hairy Dawg and Blooper.

According to Davis, he was so locked in with NFL Draft preparation, he didn’t have much time to practice this beauty of a strike:

When you consider everything Jordan Davis did at the NFL Combine, you have to ask the question:

What can’t he do?

Jordan Davis reflects on memorable Braves first pitch with NFL Network

The NFL Network spoke with Davis leading up to his appearance at the NFL Draft in Las Vegas.

The Georgia football defensive tackle is one of three Dawgs who will appear in-person at the Draft.

Other than talking NFL Draft minutiae, the NFL Network segment highlighted Davis’s spotlight moment on the mound.

Jordan Davis has countless workouts and pre-Draft appearances on his schedule.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that he didn’t have much time to work on his pitching form.

When you think of how many ways a first pitch like Davis’s can go wrong, it makes his performance that much more impressive.

“I didn’t do much practicing. I’ve been all over the place, so I had to get in where I fit in,” Davis said.

“I had a little sinker. I just wanted to make it past the plate, so I did that, and they called it a strike, so we just live and we see another day.”

Obviously, Jordan Davis reveled in the Braves’ World Series victory

That it happened within a couple months of the Dawgs’ drought-busting National Championship is still an existential miracle for many a Georgia sports fan.

When Jordan Davis lifted that Georgia pullover to reveal a Braves jersey at the Dawgs’ National Championship ceremony, Sanford Stadium sounded about as loud as Lucas Oil Stadium did during Kelee Ringo‘s pick-six.

Now, he can add a strike at Truist Park to his year-in-review.

What a moment for the Braves super-fan, and National Champion.

It doesn’t get much cooler than how Davis is living right now.

And it’s about to get a whole lot better.
