WATCH: New Georgia DL pledge Joseph Jonah-Ajonye's elite junior highlights
Georgia’s 2024 recruiting class continues to grow. The Bulldogs have added 13 commitments since Dylan Raiola jumped on board in mid May. It has added nine since the start of June and three prospects since July 1. The latest came on Thursday night when elite defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye jumped on board.
Jonah-Ajonye is the 23 commitment in Georgia’s 2024 class and he’s the fourth defensive lineman added since the start of June. A quick look at his junior highlights shows how he made his way onto Tray Scott’s radar.
After playing his junior season at no more than 250 pounds, Jonah-Ajonye beefed up and Georgia came in with the offer. At that point he called UGA his dream school and quickly set up a visit. He took his first trip to Athens in May and, before he left, scheduled an official visit for June.
Georgia was trending at that point and it sealed the deal on his official visit, impressing both his mom and his sister.

“Then on my official visit a couple of weeks ago, my mom went there and my sister and they just had an amazing time,” Jonah-Ajonye told DawgsHQ. “I’ve never seen my mom have so much fun before and my sister had a great time. Usually my sister doesn’t like going out and hanging out with people and what not but they really got her out of her shell. It was just fun and seeing those smiles on her face, it made it a very easy decision.”
On3 Scouting on Joseph Jonah-Ajonye
At 6-foot-4 275 pounds with 10.5-inch hands and 34.25-inch arms, Jonah-Ajonye is the No. 44 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes ratings from all four recruiting coverage websites. He’s the No. 8 defensive lineman in America and the No. 10 player in Texas.
“Athletic, versatile defensive lineman with one of the higher developmental upsides at the position in the 2024 cycle. Measured at around 6-foot-3.5, 275 pounds prior to his senior season. Has a big frame and plus length with a 10.5-inch hand and wing-span over 6-foot-10. An easy, natural athlete who moves like a much smaller player. Lines up at defensive end and inside on Friday nights. Jonah-Ajonye flashes outstanding speed in pursuit, running down plays from the backside. Plays to the whistle and makes second effort plays. Shows quick hands at the point of attack. Is a mismatch due to his quickness and overall athleticism when he slides inside. Capable of overpowering offensive tackles as a edge setter against the run. Will need to continue honing his skill and growing as a player. Could stand to improve his pass rush. Born in Nigeria and did not start playing football until his freshman year of high school. Also extraordinarily young for the cycle, with a November birthday. Is the age of a 2025 prospect. Has notable upside based on his lower level of development and the room for growth relative to most other top 2024 prospects.”
