JUST IN: Zamir White, James Cook post official 40-yard dash times at NFL Combine
Zamir White and James Cook both needed impressive performances at the NFL Combine for various reasons.
White needed to show that he still had durability after two ACL injuries in high school and college.
Cook needed to demonstrate his abilities after choosing to sit out the Reese’s Senior Bowl (according to some scouts, but not me).
Anyone doubting his pass-blocking skills didn’t see Stetson Bennett’s clean pocket on the National Championship touchdown pass to A.D. Mitchell.

I also thought Zamir White needed to excel in his drills more than James Cook. NFL scouts needed to see that he could be adequate, at the very least, catching the ball.
He passed that test, too.
Zamir White and James Cook burn through the 40-yard dash
What matters more than anything, though?
In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt:
“America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, bad-ass speed.”
James Cook officially ran a 4.42 40-yard dash, and Zamir White posted a 4.40 flat.
After George Pickens shattered his own personal doubts Thursday night, it just seems fitting that White and Cook would do the same.
On March 4th, no less.
