Justin Shaffer heading to Atlanta Falcons in NFL Draft
Georgia football offensive lineman Justin Shaffer isn’t having to go far to start his NFL career, being picked by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 190 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s the first Georgia player to be picked by the Falcons in 11 years.
Shaffer is a native of Ellenwood, Ga. and a product of Cedar Grove High School. He left high school as a consensus three-star recruit in the Class of 2017. Shaffer was also the nation’s No. 58-ranked interior offensive lineman. He played in 51 career games, and started 26 of them in his final two seasons.
Justin Shaffer modeled consistency in his Georgia football career. In 2020, Shaffer played every offensive snap in six of Georgia’s games. In 2021, Shaffer started all of 15 of Georgia’s games at left guard. He also played every possible offensive snap in five of Georgia’s games. Shaffer’s play earned him spots on the AP & Coaches’ All-SEC 2nd Team.
