WATCH: Dominant junior highlights of new 5-star Georgia pledge Justin Williams
Georgia has added another piece to its No. 1-ranked recruiting class and it’s also another player who is ranked No. 1 at his position. Oak Ridge (Conroe, Tex.) linebacker Justin Williams chose Georgia over Oregon, Alabama, and a host of other programs Monday evening, giving Kirby Smart and company 26 commitments in the class.
The Bulldogs applied the full-court press to Williams the past few months. They also landed his Oak Ridge teammate, Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, earlier this month. A look at Williams’ junior highlights show why the Georgia staff was so high on him as a prospect. The speed, instincts, and willingness to strike ball carriers and blocker all stand out.
Williams’ pledge gives Georgia five in the month of July. The Bulldogs added three offensive linemen earlier this month, all four-star prospects. It started with Daniel Calhoun on July 5. Nyier Daniels announced his commitment to UGA on July 7 with Marques Easley making the call on July 8. Jonah-Ajonye committed to Georgia on July 6, giving the Bulldogs four commitments in as many days.

On3 Scouting on Justin Williams…
At 6-foot-2 210 pounds, Williams is a five-star-plus prospect. That means that he has a five-star rating by all four recruiting services. The On3 Industry-ranking, a weighted average from those services, views him as the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect and No. 3 player in Texas. He’s currently the No. 1 linebacker in America.
Rangy linebacker with elite speed that makes him a near prototype at the position. Measured in at around 6-foot-2, 210 pounds prior to his senior season. Added very good weight as a junior. Owns plus length for the position with arms a shad under 33 inches. The fastest top linebacker in the combine setting in 2024. Ran an absurd electronically-timed 4.44 40-yard dash, 4.39 short shuttle and jumped a 9-foot-10 broad jump at the UC Report’s Houston camp. Backed that up on the track with a stellar 11.01 second mark in the 100 meters. Williams transfers that high-end athleticism over to the field. Originally a safety, he to linebacker full-time as a junior and had a very productive season, notching 105 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. Lines up as a mike backer for his high school. Shows the ability to stack and shed incoming blockers. Excels bringing down ball players from sideline to sideline and in the backfield. Flashes an elite first step and ability to close. Draws on his experience as a safety to aid in coverage and playing in space. Will need to continue adding mass and strength. A strong tackler in his first year as a linebacker but can improve the pop in his hands and overall play strength. Flashes considerable upside given his high-end combination of athleticism, length and range.
