Kareem Stagg

It’s been almost a year since Georgia’s first commitment in the Class of 2025. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs landed a second – four-star forward Kareem Stagg – to join Jacob Wilkins. With the two of them on board, UGA’s committed class ranked No. 9 in the nation.

Stagg is a top-100 prospect per the On3 Industry Rankings coming in at No. 90 nationally. On3 is slightly lower on him than the Industry (No. 110 overall), however has him ranked higher in the state of Florida (No. 16 On3 / No. 17 Industry).

Listed at 6-foot-8, 225 pounds, is a native of Chesapeake, Virginia. He plays his high school basketball however at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida to give himself national exposure and a better test. Prior to playing for the Ascenders, Stagg attended Oscar Smith High School in his hometown.

Stagg took an official visit to Georgia in August and would eventually choose the Bulldogs over Houston, Michigan and Oklahoma State. Here’s what he told On3’s Joe Tipton about the program in Athens…

“What stood out for me from Georgia was just the way I could fit in their system and how there is so many options. Their staff were great people with players that want to be around each other.”

Stagg Scouting Report

“Stagg is a physical presence with a lot of burst. In past viewings, his output has been inconsistent, and the production was fluid here as well. However, he shot the ball well, which makes things intriguing. It will be interesting to see if he continues this trend, with his size, length, and pop, an added jump shot opens up more for Stagg.” – Jamie Shaw (On3), NBAPA Top-100 Camp

Georgia Basketball at a Glance

Georgia signed the nation’s No. 12 class (No. 3 SEC) for 2024 headlined by five-star Asa Newell, top-50 prospect Somto Cyril and overseas addition Savo Drezgic. Jordyn Kee also reclassified to come to Athens a year early and be a part of UGA’s squad this coming season.

Mike White and his staff were one of just two in the nation to bring in top-15 classes both from the high school ranks and in the transfer portal where Georgia added five newcomers: Justin Abson (Appalachian State), RJ Godfrey (Clemson), Tyrin Lawrence (Vanderbilt), Dakota Leffew (Mount St. Mary’s) and DeShayne Montgomery (Mount St. Mary’s). This join the freshmen as well as the Bulldogs’ three returnees, all of whom were top-100 players per the On3 Industry Ranking for the Class of 2023: Blue Cain, Silas Demary and Dylan James.

Georgia began official practice for the 2024-25 campaign late last month and are just 10 days out from their first exhibition of the season. The Bulldogs will play twice – October 19th at Charlotte and October 29th in Athens against UCF – before they tip off the season at Stegeman Coliseum with Tennessee Tech coming to town on November 4th.
