Kearis Jackson named to Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

Georgia wide receiver Kearis Jackson was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on Monday morning. The senior pass catcher is one of 11 players from the FBS level selected based on their commitment to community service.

Jackson is the latest in Georgia players named to the AFCA Good Works Team with 22 Bulldogs since the award’s inception in 1992, including 17 since 2000. Previous honorees include Alec Millen in 1992, Travis Jones in 1993, Brian Smith in 1995, Matt Stinchcomb in 1997 and 1998, Brett Millican in 2000, Jon Stinchcomb in 2001, David Greene in 2003, D.J. Shockley in 2005, Quentin Moses in 2006, Kelin Johnson in 2007, Jeff Owens in 2009, Aron White in 2011, Aaron Murray in 2012, Chris Conley in 2014, Malcolm Mitchell in 2015, Jeb Blazevich in 2016, Aaron Davis in 2017, Rodrigo Blankenship in 2018, Jake Fromm in 2019 and Nakobe Dean in 2021. Dean last year and Mitchell in 2015 were voted captains for their respective Good Works Teams.

Off the field, Jackson has consistently been a leader in the Georgia Football program and the Athens community. He is a mentor to youth in the Middle Georgia area as a motivations speaker back in his hometown of Fort Valley, Ga. and graduation speaker for Byron Elementary School in Peach County and a middle school in Decatur with a message focused on motivating students to stay in school as they move into their next phase of education. He has also worked with Feed The City in Fort Valley and as a COVID-19 vaccine ambassador. Meanwhile, on campus, Jackson represented Georgia on the NCAA Division I Football Student Athlete Connection Group and on the SEC Football leadership Council, was selected to the UGA Athletic Association’s L.E.A.D. (Leadership, Education, and Development) program and the UGA Athletic Association Board of Directors.

Meanwhile, on the field, Jackson has also been a major contributor. In the first three games of the 2022 season, he’s got six catches for 86 yards in addition to two kick returns for 55 yards including a 36-yarder in the opener against Oregon. On his career, Jackson had 63 receptions for 873 yards and four touchdowns to go along with more than 750 return yards in 43 games played.

Georgia is off to a 3-0 start to the 2022 season and ranked No. 1 in the country in both the AP and Coaches polls. The Bulldogs beat South Carolina on the road this past weekend in their SEC opener 48-7, two weeks after a 49-3 beatdown of the ranked-Oregon Ducks in the season-opener. Georgia is at home this week at Sanford Stadium taking on Kent State Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
