Kirby Smart and his KirbyCopter are synonymous with Georgia football’s recruiting success these days. Now before an Alabama fan pipes up, I am aware that Nick Saban rode around in helicopters first.

I just witnessed a week of internet arguments about which team had lights at its stadium first. Next, Bulldogs and Roll Tides will try to prove which school used grass on a rectangular football field earlier.

I have one-upmanship fatigue from all of you, so I wanted to nip that in the bud.

Now, Kirby Smart’s helicopter comes in various shapes, sizes and colors.

That’s because his travel booker rents them out based on where he happens to be.

Sometimes he’s in the Peach State. Other times he has to head south to the Sunshine State. He even takes his talents up to the Empire State from time to time.

You don’t have to be a helicopter expert to know that one single chopper can’t cover all that ground – er, air. No, Kirby Smart chops wood, chops the air and touches down on high school football fields with local birds.

And boy, they can be sweet.

Legendary Lakeland high school football coach Bill Castle retired, and Smart used the chopper to visit the Dreadnaughts’ (awesome mascot name) new head coach, Marvin Frazier.

The Dawgs secured the signature of Lakeland High School wide receiver Tyler Williams in the 2023 recruiting class.

Smart just had to do some due diligence and get familiar with the new top Dreadnaught at a pipeline for College Football talent.

Georgia fans may like this one a little more, compared to the yellow one Smart flies around in to visit Georgia high school football players.

At least it isn’t orange.

Wherever Smart flies, it’s a grand occasion

The defending back-to-back National Championship head coach doesn’t show up to your school every day.

Smart visited Chattanooga’s Baylor School recently to see 2024 WR Amari Jefferson.

Yes, these are high times – figuratively and literally – in the Kirby Smart recruiting era.

Ruby Falls ceased falling, just for a few moments, out of respect for Smart’s arrival.

The Dawgs currently rank #2 in the 2023 and 2024 On3 recruiting rankings.

And they aren’t done soaring just yet. Smart learned the value of adaptation as a graduate assistant at Florida State.

Planes, trains, automobiles, boats or helicopters, it doesn’t matter.

Smart will get wherever he needs to go in order to ‘cruit with the best of ’em.
