One of four wideout signees in the Class of 2022 for the Georgia Bulldogs, Kinkaid School receiver Dillon Bell initially committed back in early August, but because of the setup of his high school, he wasn’t able to early enroll.

Despite that gap in time, he stuck with his pledge and inked his letter of intent on Wednesday.

It’s a moment Kirby Smart and company were eagerly anticipating for a number of reasons.

“Dillon is another one that came and worked out,” Smart said on Wednesday. “He came through, and he was actually here the same day [fellow signee] Cole (Speer) was. He stood out.”

That was the day everything changed.

“When we saw him workout that gave us validation that what we saw on tape was accurate,” Smart said.

Both athleticism and character came into focus during that trips and the subsequent conversations.

“He is a tremendous young man so when start to look for size and speed on the perimeter. He has really good size, he has really good speed,” Smart said. “That was something that fired us up.”

The compliments didn’t stop there.

“He was big, he was built like a running back. He has power, he has good hands, he has a tremendous work ethic,” the head coach said. “He goes to an extremely academic high school  which checks a box for us in terms of being able to handle the academics here at the University of Georgia.”

Dillon Bell clear Georgia was the spot for him

As for Bell, he told DawgsHQ in November what the opportunity meant to him.

“It feels like it’s there for me. I feel like I fit perfect in their offense, and it was just a perfect fit for me. I definitely trust everyone on offense, and I know I’m going to compete against the best every day,” he said at the time. “They played almost every receiver. They rotate all their guys. They’re also explosive. They’re going to take deep shots, and they live for that. They’re not scared to give you a chance to get up with a lot of isolation. The OC, Coach [Todd] Monken, there is doing a very good job.”
