ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia tight end Oscar Delp left Saturday’s win over Tennessee Tech with an ankle injury. Attended to on the field by trainers with 2:49 to go in the first half, Delp returned for a few more snaps shortly after. He would emerge out of the locker room following halftime without a helmet and in tennis shoes instead of cleats. During the third quarter, Georgia Sports Communications staff shared that Delp was “out for the game.”

Delp caught one pass, the first for him this season, for a pickup of 13 yards early on in the contest.

“He had a slight ankle sprain. We’ll see,” Smart said. “I thought he could’ve gone. Held him at halftime.”

Freshman running back Nate Frazier was also treated by trainers for what looked like a right shoulder injury late in the game. After his sixth carry of the day, Frazier came up oddly and went straight to the sideline. He totaled 28 yards on the day after an impressive debut last Saturday against Clemson. Smart said he could have returned but the game was well in hand.

Georgia was without a couple of players expected to be key contributors for the Bulldogs this season on the defensive side of the ball. Mykel Williams (ankle), Jordan Hall (leg) and Xzavier McLeod (undisclosed) were all sidelined with various injuries. None of them were unexpected. Warren Brinson (ankle) dressed but did not play after suffering a contusion against Clemson.

The same is true for running back Roderick Robinson (toe) who was seen on a scooter wearing a wrap on his foot after undergoing surgery ahead of the season.

UGA hits the road next weekend to open SEC play at Kentucky. The Wildcats are currently in action on ABC against South Carolina. Kickoff time in Lexington is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
