Kirby Smart stays on 5-star hunt, visits another ELITE Georgia target on Thursday
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has traveled dozens of high schools the past week but none are bigger than the visit he’s making on Wednesday afternoon. DawgsHQ has learned that Smart is in Nashville to see five-star quarterback Jared Curtis at Nashville Christian. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo is with him.
This is the one and only time Smart will be able to see Curtis off of the Georgia campus until December. It is the second time that Georgia has made the trip to the Music City for Curtis. Mike Bobo was there last week.
Curtis was committed to Georgia for roughly seven months, March to October, before deciding to re-open his recruitment and take visits. The Bulldogs have continued to recruit him hard and they were heavily in the mix soon after Curtis got back on the market.
The Bulldogs have secured one of three official visits thus far. He’s set to be in Athens on June 13 and plans to make his final decision after official visits. Oregon will host him on June 6 and South Carolina will get him in town on June 20. Alabama is also working to get an official visit with Auburn, Ohio State, and a number of other schools staying in contact. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Georgia might just be the team to beat for the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect.

“I do think the relationships are still strongest at Georgia,” Wiltfong said on Monday. “Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo spent nine hours with Curtis and his family on a recent in-home. Kirby Smart and Bobo will be back on Thursday. Proximity to home, competing for championships every year, the relationships with the staff and perhaps the cleanest depth chart of the three to compete right away within a talented roster have the Bulldogs in prime position. As of right now, in the end, I still like where UGA stands right now.”
Smart was also in Cartersville, Ga. on Thursday. There he paid a visit to 2026 Cass High School quarterback Brodie McWhorter.
