Georgia's Ladd McConkey voted top WR at Senior Bowl
Georgia wideout Ladd McConkey has made the most of his opportunity at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. After a week of strong practices and a number of highlight catches and routes, McConkey has been named the top wideout on the practice field. The award was given based on a vote by the participating defensive backs.
McConkey generated a great deal of buzz on the first day, earning top-performer honors from a number of outlets. Day two was a little quieter but the North Murray High School product was back at it on days and three and four.
The week began with McConkey as one of the most intriguing prospects in attendance. He measured in at just over 5-foot-11 and 187 pounds, adequate but less-than-ideal size for his position. McConkey’s production at Georgia, especially in big games, was always going to be tough to ignore.
After barely seeing the field in 2020, McConkey spent his next three years in Athens racking up 14 touchdowns and 1,687 yards receiving on 119 catches. He also carried the football 13 times for 216 yards and four scores.

His final year at UGA, however, was marred by injuries. A back injury kept him out for the first four games of the season and limited for the next couple. McConkey caught fire after the bye week and helped Georgia to big wins over Florida, Missouri, and Ole Miss. The injury bug bit again in that win over Ole Miss, however, as he sustained a sprained ankle that limited him to a few snaps against Tennessee and kept him out of the Georgia Tech game. He returned for the SEC Championship game but was far from 100 percent as the Bulldogs had their 29-game win streak snapped at the hands of Alabama.
Some NFL Draft analysts view McConkey as a potential first-round talent. Others see him as a player who’ll likely be selected later on day two.
