One five-star prospect in the Class of 2023 remains unsigned. That of course would be tight end Duce Robinson out of Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Ariz. The nation’s top player at the position and No. 23 overall according to both the On3 Consensus and the in-house On300, Robinson has a date in mind on when he’ll put things to bed.

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons joined Josh Newberg on The Inside Scoop On3 Football Recruiting Show to discuss the decision that’ll come before April 1.

“The decision date means that he obviously still plans, at least to consider playing football in college and maybe college football and baseball,” Simmons said. “Obviously he’s weighing a lot of different options right now. It’s a big family decision, and he’s listening to a lot of different outlets from the MLB standpoint. He’s getting the best advice on how to play this out, what to consider, does this help or hurt draft stock. There’s a lot going into this, but yeah, we don’t know the exact timeline but we do expect Duce to commit and sign with a school between now and April 1. He said it could be this month, it could be March, it could be April 1. So we’ll see how this plays out, but we do expect him to make a decision and sign with a college between now and then.”

Georgia’s staff is certainly excited to hear that one of their top targets in the Class of 2023 does indeed have a desire to play College Football as the decision date indicates. Even more to be excited about for the Bulldogs? Simmons still thinks that UGA has is in the lead.

“Based on my intel I still like where Georgia is at with USC right behind there,” Simmons said. “I think there’s some confidence in both camps at USC and Georgia. Ironically both coaches had their final visit on the same day with Duce Robinson a week ahead of Signing Day. On Monday, Lincoln Riley and his staff went in first and then Kirby Smart and his staff went in late that night. I think it comes down to those two schools. There’s been some talk about Texas still being in the mix. Of course Alabama and Oregon were at one time mentioned as well, but I think this one comes down to Georgia and USC and I still give that nod to the University of Georgia.”

As of publication, Georgia holds 67.1% of the prediction for the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. USC comes in at 23.1% with Texas at 7.1% and Alabama holding less than a percent. The two most recent predictions are in favor of the Bulldogs including the latest on January 26th from DawgsHQ’s own Jake Reuse.
