Georgia safety Lewis Cine is off the board and will be starting his professional career here before too long in Minnesota with the Vikings, who selected him with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Cine – the fifth Georgia player selected on Thursday, a program record – wrapped up the 2022 NFL Draft’s first round.

Georgia made NFL Draft history as well. With Minnesota’s selection of Cine, Georgia became the first program to send five defensive players in the first round of the Draft.

Cine led the Bulldogs in tackles on a loaded Georgia defense this past season. He finished with 73 stops from the safety position.

Also, the Associated Press and SEC coaches named him an All-SEC player. The AP also named him as an All-American.

Additionally, Cine ended his Georgia career as the Defensive MVP in the National Championship win over Alabama. He finished that game with seven stops and one pass breakup. He also led the team in that category.

Cine ran the fastest 40-yard dash time of the 14 Georgia players who attended the NFL Combine.

Only 15 players in the entire draft ran faster than Cine’s 4.37 40 time. Cine also added a 36.5 inch vertical and a 133-inch broad jump to his resume

“Yeah, Lewis is a special talent,” Smart said about his safety during the season. “He has extremely good speed, he has extremely good toughness, has good ball skills, good size. When you design a safety, he’s got all the qualities. And he’s really been a student of the game. He came in as a raw talent that had played up in Boston in high school, and then in Texas. He bounced around and, you know, he never really learned a scheme where he learned how to play the position. He’s really grown at that.”

Cine joins teammates Travon Walker, Jordan Davis, Quay Walker, and Devonte Wyatt as first rounders.
