LOOK: Georgia Football reveals National Championship rings
ATHENS, Ga. — It’s the start of the 2023 season in Athens with Georgia going through its annual G-Day spring game, but not before the Bulldogs take a second to celebrate the 2022 squad. The team’s social media accounts revealed a first look at the rings the team will receive for winning the National Championship last January over TCU.
It’s the second straight season that the spring game has also served as a celebration of the previous season with the 2022 plaque – as well as an upgraded version of the Dooley Field sign inside the stadium – also being on display for fans in attendance.
The Bulldogs rolled to an undefeated 15-0 season in 2022, taking down Ohio State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl semifinal of the College Football Playoff before beating TCU in the National Championship Game 65-7. Stetson Bennett threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns while also adding a pair on the ground to tie a National Championship Game record of touchdowns accounted for. Bennett won Offensive MVP while Javon Bullard, who had three turnovers in the first half alone, won Defensive MVP.

Georgia loses several players for the 2022 team including Bennett, leading rusher Kenny McIntosh, captain Nolan Smith and unanimous All-Americans defensive tackle Jalen Carter and safety Christopher Smith. All five of those, plus eight others, entered the 2023 NFL Draft while at least 10 players from the team have already entered the transfer portal. The Bulldogs do however bring back leading receivers Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey on offense as well as its two top tacklers Jamon Dumas-Johnson and Smael Mondon on defense.
A couple of players from the 2022 squad have been seen on the sidelines already including offensive linemen Broderick Jones, Warren McClendon and Warren Ericson. Georgia kicks off its annual G-Day spring scrimmage at 4:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
