LOOK: Scenes from day one of Georgia spring practice

One practice down, 14 more to go for Georgia this spring. The Bulldogs kicked off spring drills on Tuesday with a workout in helmets and spider pads only. They’ll have one more practice like that before the strap on the pads and the UGA sports information team has released some photos from todays workout. DawgsHQ is providing you with some of those photos below plus some commentary on what we’re looking at.
Georgia QB Gunner Stockton

Stockton enters this spring with a big lead for the starting quarterback job. He only has six quarters of meaningful experience under his belt but he handled himself pretty well in that short amount of time and it’s his fourth year in the system.
UGA QB Colter Ginn

The walk-on from Middle Georgia has made some fans since arriving in Athens last season. He has a live arm and a bunch of impressive tools for a guy who isn’t on scholarship.
Georgia QB Ryan Puglisi

The redshirt freshman was dinged up last spring and missed the G-Day game with a fractured bone in his lower leg. That forced him to miss valuable reps and he’s playing catch up this spring. Puglisi enters with a firm grasp on the No. 2 job while trying to battle for the top spot.

UGA offensive linemen Drew Bobo, Earnest Greene

These two enter spring as projected starters for the Bulldogs in 2025. Bobo started two games at center a season ago, both SEC contests and both home victories. Greene started the first 23 games of his career before having to take some time to get over a stinger injury in his left shoulder. Looking at the photos released by UGA, it looks like he worked at right tackle. We’re also told that he worked some at left tackle.
Georgia offensive lineman Bo Hughley

This is Hughley’s first healthy spring with the team. He signed with the Dawgs in the 2023 class but didn’t arrive until the summer. After going through that season with the team with a focus on gaining weight, he suffered a labrum injury that required surgery. That forced him to miss spring of 2024. Now the Langston Hughes High School product has a shot to win a bigger role for himself. He has also changed his number to 55 from 59.
UGA cornerback Ellis Robinson IV

The nation’s No. 1 cornerback in the 2024 class didn’t play as much as many thought he would in year one. After spending some time with him at the Sugar Bowl media day in December, it’s clear that he needed to put on some weight. He appears to have done that and will have a chance to prove himself with Daylen Everette limited due to a sports hernia.
Georgia cornerback Daylen Everette

The most experienced player on UGA’s roster in terms of snap count will be limited this spring with that sports hernia injury. He’s expected, however, to practice the entire way through. Everette had more ups and downs in 2024 but it was a significant improvement over his 2023 campaign. He ended the season with three interceptions, all against Texas.
Georgia cornerback Daniel Harris

Harris had some good moments in 2024 but he struggled a lot. At times he looked lost or like he wasn’t giving his best effort, but the UGA staff is still very high on his potential. The spring begins with him as a projected No. 1 cornerback but he’ll have to work hard to keep Robinson and Demello Jones off the field.

Georgia linebacker Raylen Wilson

The Tallahassee, Fla. native and former five-star prospect saw his playing time increase from year one to year two. Now he’s an upperclassman and much will be expected. Wilson is a freaky athlete who can help do everything Georgia asks of it’s inside linebackers. This photo also shows Greene working at right tackle.
Georgia linebacker Justin Williams

Williams was the nation’s top inside linebacker in the 2024 class, ending the process as a five-star prospect. UGA employed him mostly on special teams in his first season but year two will offer him a chance to get into the rotation. Smael Mondon and Jalon Walker are gone, meaning that there are snaps to be had.
Georgia defensive back JaCorey Thomas

After a couple of seasons of consistent buzz but no production, Thomas got a chance to play in 2024. The reviews are mixed. He wasn’t bad by any stretch but he also didn’t stand out much other than being a pretty reliable tackler, something the rest of the team struggled with at times. The Bulldogs brought in three safety/STAR types but Thomas knows the system at this point and might be tough to knock off.
UGA punters Brett Thorson, Drew Miller

Thorson will miss this spring after suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his left, non-kicking knee. Miller, who stepped in for him in the Sugar Bowl vs. Notre Dame, will be the guy this spring and that could be the case when the 2025 season begins. It all depends on how Thorson progresses.
Georgia linebacker CJ Allen

Much will be expected out of Allen as he goes into his third season with the team. Year three is typically when the inside linebackers break out in Athens. It’s when Roquan Smith, Nakobe Dean, and Jalon Walker all won Butkus Awards. It’s also when Quay Walker started to make his move. Allen has played just as much or more than those guys to this point in his career and he’s looking to turn up-and-down play into all ups.
Georgia co-defensive coordinator, safeties coach Travaris Robinson

Robinson, also known as T-Rob, is entering his second season at UGA and according to Smart, he’ll be in charge of the safeties. Andrew Thacker is now working with the STAR/nickel players, freeing Robinson up to lock in on a position group that is desperately trying to build some depth after multiple departures.
