Major Georgia target, 4-star LB Kris Jones sets commitment date
Fairfax (Va.) four-star linebacker Kris Jones has a date for his commitment. The No. 128 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will announce his college decision on July 30 at 7:30 p.m.
Jones has three programs left on his board. Georgia, Michigan State and Florida are the three hats that will be on Jones’ table.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Georgia. The Bulldogs have an 89.1 percent chance of landing Jones according to RPM.
The Bulldogs got Jones on campus for an official visit back on June 16. Georgia has been active on the linebacker market as of late. Georgia landed five-star Justin Williams back on Monday.
On Wednesday, Georgia lost the commitment of five-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick to Auburn. Another blue-chip linebacker, Chris Cole received a prediction from DawgsHQ’s Jake Rowe on Wednesday. The Bulldogs now lead according to RPM for Cole.
Jones spoke in-depth on Georgia last week with DawgsHQ. Georgia hit a lot of positive marks for Jones.
What did Kris Jones say about Georgia?
Georgia’s treatment of Jones throughout the process has made an impression on the four-star linebacker.
“Georgia has been pretty good to me and my family each and every time that I have been down there,” Jones said back on July 17. “They treat me and my family like they’re family. It was really good going down to Georgia. Me talking to coach (Glenn) Schumann was great. We’ve built a great relationship over these past couple of months.”

Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann has been a key piece of Georgia’s puzzle for Jones as well. Schumann has connected with Jones on multiple levels.
“He’s just a great guy, a great family guy and he likes to connect with his players,” Jones said. “That’s how you get the best performance out of your players; you have to really connect with them. Being coached by the best linebacker back in the nation isn’t bad either.”
With one linebacker already committed in Williams, Jones doesn’t really consider that when thinking of Georgia. He’s prepared to compete no matter where he goes.
“I’m going to have to work no matter where I go,” Jones said. “If I show them that I’m good enough to play, I’ll have a spot.”
