Malachi Toliver commits to Georgia: 'Its the best of the best'
Cartersville (Ga.) 2024 offensive lineman Malachi Toliver has felt like Georgia was home for quite some time. On Sunday, Toliver acted on those feelings by committing to the Bulldogs.
Toliver is Georgia’s 11th commitment in the class of 2024. Georgia kept coming up. Since the Bulldogs offered Toliver, they made Toliver feel prioritized.
“Every since they offered me, they’ve been showing me a lot of love,” Toliver said. “Not only have they said they want me, but they’re also showing me why they want me and why they think I can impact their program and the dynasty that they’re building and why I can help them win championships.”
Toliver was in Athens for an unofficial visit on Saturday. Toliver was able to watch the Bulldogs go through spring practice. He also had a chance to talk with the Bulldogs’ staff for a bit.
He went into the visit with his mind nearly made up. Toliver broke the news to offensive line coach Stacy Searels on the visit.
He then told head coach Kirby Smart later in the visit.
“I met with coach Smart and coach Searels and that’s how it got brought up,” Toliver said. “I told him (Searels) before I got there, I was thinking about committing to you guys. We were talking and I said ‘I think this was it’… Both of their reactions were great. They were pumped and they were talking with my family about all the things that are going to happen and what we do from here on out.”
Malachi Toliver comfortable and honored
Toliver felt comfortable with both Smart and Searels for some time. Their coaching styles fit Toliver’s personality.

“The way they coach and the way they are off the field, I can tell that they are good people off the field,” Toliver said. “I’ve built relationships with both of them over the last few months since they offered me. Coach Smart has been texting me, coach Searels has been texting me. I just felt comfortable with them being my coaches in my college career. I feel like I’ll be very successful. I’ll grow on the field and off the field.”
Toliver holds the opportunity to play for Georgia dear. He’s from Cartersville, an area situated about two hours from Athens.
The Bulldogs have won back-to-back national championships. That holds weight to Toliver. He also thinks Georgia’s just scratching the surface of what’s to come.
“It’s the best of the best,” Toliver said. “They’re going to be the best college football team for the next few years. I’m blessed that I get the opportunity to be a part of that. They want me to be a part of it and I can help them win championships. I feel blessed to be a part of it.”
