Georgia has added to its administrative team by hiring former Florida football chief of staff Mark Robinson. He’ll hold a very similar role at Georgia according to ESPN’s Chris Low.

“Veteran football administrator Mark Robinson has been hired as associate AD and Kirby Smart’s chief of staff for @GeorgiaFootball. Robinson has a wealth of experience,” Low said via Twitter. He was briefly at Florida, worked under Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M and FSU and Bobby Petrino at Arkansas.”

Robinson joins the Bulldogs after spending less than a calendar year in Gainesville. He was at Florida at the beginning of 2024.

Robinson has extensive experience in the area of football operations, an area where Georgia was looking to add after the recent. departure of Neyland Raper. He left Athens to become the director of football operations and competition for the Big 12.

Prior to his time at Florida, Robinson spent 20 years at different programs, specializing in the football operations side of things and gaining experience at the administrative level. Robinson was at Texas A&M, his second stint with the program, from 2018-2023. There he was the associate athletic director of football. He was at Florida State for four seasons, starting in 2013, where held a similar post. In total, he worked 11 straight years with Jimbo Fisher.

Prior to his time at FSU, Robinson was in the SEC as the director of football operations at Arkansas. He had that job for five seasons. His first stint at Texas A&M began in 2003 where he served as an assistant in the football operations department.

The football operations department is responsible for different tasks at different schools but most deal with team travel, logistics, equipment, and facilities among other duties. Robinson, to this point, has followed a similar path to that of Georgia’s J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks, who got his start in football operations. Brooks worked in that role under Mark Richt before getting into the administrative side of things. He returned to Georgia in 2016 at the Executive Director of Athletics and was promoted to his current post in January of 2021.

Robinson joins a program that has experienced a tremendous amount of success over the past three seasons. The Bulldogs have amassed a record of 42-2 on the gridiron from 2021 to 2023 with two National Championships, one SEC championship, two Orange Bowl victories and one Peach Bowl win.
