Mecole Hardman has a tremendous opportunity with the Kansas City Chiefs this year. The Cheetah is gone.

Tyreek Hill is now a Miami Dolphin, which opens the door for Hardman to blow past Kansas City’s opposition with his top-notch speed, and run under some perfectly-thrown Patrick Mahomes wizardry.

“The opportunity is bigger. It’s up to the coaches, the coaching staff, to really see how they want to use me this year, Hardman said. “It’s up to me to be prepared for that.”

The former Georgia football receiving missile and second-round NFL Draft pick had 59 catches for 693 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

Obviously, there is room for improvement. Hill’s departure doesn’t guarantee it will happen. That’s up to Hardman.

“He doesn’t have to be Tyreek Hill. He has to be Mecole Hardman and I think Mecole Hardman can be a great player in this offense,” Mahomes said.

“Everybody puts out there he’s got to replace Tyreek. I think he can be his own player, a Pro Bowler and a great player in this offense as well. I think just him continuing to evolve, play hard and practice hard, he’ll have a great season this year.”

Mecole Hardman told GQ how he spend his first million dollars in the NFL

I was fortunate enough to cover Mecole’s NFL Draft party with the Hardman family back in 2019.

I’ll always be grateful that he shared that moment with me.

It allowed a lot of Chiefs fans, Dawgs fans, and people in general to witness a life-changing phone call.

After that call, Hardman signed his four-year rookie deal worth $4.9M and won a Super Bowl. That initial contract included a $1,6M signing bonus, and $2,3M guaranteed.

Obviously, this season is a big one for him.

Mecole isn’t shy about the challenge ahead for him with the Chiefs in 2022. And he isn’t shy about his money.

GQ recently featured Hardman on its ‘My First Million’ YouTube series, and the entire video is worth a watch. Many people who follow Mecole’s career saw the home he purchased for his mom a few years ago.

Hardman’s car upgrades, sneakerhead passion, and financial advice for rookies might also impress you.

“For guys entering the league, when you make money, I know it’s gonna be overwhelming. Like you feel like you can get anything in the world. But just know, it don’t last long. And the more you spend, the more you just see it *snaps* it goes down fast. The best thing you can do is get a financial advisor that you trust, budget very well, and you’ll be just fine.”
