Mike White picks up win 300, Georgia rolls in opener

Athens, Ga – The first win of the 2025-2026 basketball season was number 300 for Georgia head coach Mike White.
Win 300 was a big one for White. He feels fortunate to have worked with the people he has worked with. That is what has helped White to where he is.
“I’ve just been really fortunate,” White told reporters post game. “I’ve coached really good players, great people. Working with great people and working in three big time institutions for great people is just a great opporunity.”
Georgia got off to a fast start
The Bulldogs opened the campaign with a 104-59 win over Bellarmine on Monday night at Stegeman Coliseum. Georgia got off to a fast start and never looked back. They trailed 5-4 in the first three minutes of the game and never trailed or tied again.
Georgia was led offensively by Jeremiah Wilkinson, who put up 15 points in his Georgia debut, and junior Blue Cain also added 15 points.
The production from Georgia’s bench was a big boost as well. Freshman Jake Wilkins made some noise in his debut.
Wilkins put up 12 points off the bench. He brought the crowd to its feet with his first dunk of his career.

“I’m finally here,” Wilkins told reporters after the game. “I’ve been trying to showcase my talent since I got here in June, but it feels good to really be here and perform in front of the crowd.”
Georgia was rolling from the start. The Bulldogs showcased their new, more fast-paced style of play on their way to 1-0.
The Bulldogs forced 20 turnovers on the night and landed 29 points off those turnovers. The 3-point line was a fruitful place as well. The Bulldogs were 31 percent on the evening, and two of those became 4-point plays after fouls in the act.
Georgia shot 54.3 percent overall on the night.
Georgia will be a busy team this week. Monday’s game was the first of three this week to open the new season. The Bulldogs will host Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday night at Stegeman Coliseum at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs will host Morehead State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
