Chaz Chambliss is getting a chance to extend his football career at the professional level. He wasn’t taken in the 2025 NFL Draft but he was picked up soon after its conclusion. Minnesota signed Chambliss to an undrafted free agent deal per the organization.

Chambliss played his high school ball at Carrollton and signed with Georgia as a three-star prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the nation’s No. 460 overall prospect and the No. 48 EDGE. He was the No. 40 player in the Peach State.

He was a four-and-out player at Georgia, playing in at least 12 games in each season. Chambliss saw action in 14 games as a true freshman. All of his snaps were either as a reserve or on special teams but he piled up 11 total tackles, 1.5 fackles for loss and a half sack.

The 2022 season saw Chambliss appear in just 12 of 15 games, but he was forced into a significant role due to injury. Nolan Smith missed the final eight games of that season with a torn pectoral muscle, forcing Chambliss and Robert Beal to step up in a big way. The former finished the season with 15 total tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Georgia employed Chambliss as a full-time starter in 2024. He played in all 14 games with 20 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two pass breakups and an interception. The Bulldogs leaned on him as an EDGE run defender but often subbed him out on passing downs.

Chambliss got more opportunities to rush the passer as a senior and he capitalized. He set career-highs in tackles (40), tackles for loss (9.5) and sacks (6.5).

“He’s been here so long and he’s so strong,” Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann said this preseason. “He’s the savvy veteran of the group, and when we’re going against those guys, you’ve got to have a different plan for blocking Chaz. When we go up to the line of scrimmage and tell the play, Chaz has probably heard that play a thousand times and knows exactly what is coming. Our guys get so frustrated when Chaz is exactly where he needs to be when he needs to be there, so you’ve got to have a different plan for a guy like that that’s played so many snaps. He’s so tough and physical and such a core Georgia guy. He just epitomizes what Coach Smart believes makes this program. You can’t talk outside linebackers unless you start with Chaz first.
