INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Javon Bullard spoke to reporters on Thursday and told everyone that he planned to surprise with how fast he runs the 40-yard-dash. He delivered on that Friday by posting a time of 4.47. His fellow Georgia defensive back, Tykee Smith, also exuded confidence when he was asked about he tested. He, too, came through with a great time of 4.46 seconds.

Bullard posted a 4.48 on his second attempt at the 40-yard dash after a couple of faulty starts. Smith’s best run came on his second attempt. He ran a 4.48 on his first crack at it. All times are unofficial at this point.

“I think a lot of people will be surprised with what I run,” were Bullard’s exact words on Thursday.

Smith, on the other hand, pointed to game film when discussing why teams should pay closer attention to him as a player.

“I ain’t got to describe much,” Smith said when asked about telling teams about his game. “Being with them and them being able to cut the tape on, seeing just how I play. Playing bigger than my size and being a dawg out there.”

A third Georgia defensive back worked out on Friday but he elected to skip the 40-yard dash. Kamari Lassiter went through position drills and some other testing but he skipped the chance to run in front of NFL scouts, coaches, and front office personnel. Lassiter was a second-team All-SEC performer in 2023.

Star tight end Brock Bowers‘ position group was set to work out on the same day as the defensive backs but he did not partake in any drill work or testing. He did, however, measure in at over 6-foot-3 and tipped the scales at 243 pounds.

Georgia defensive lineman Zion Logue worked out on Thursday at the NFL Combine. He was the first Bulldog to give it a go. Once Friday is over, five Bulldogs will have had their chance with six left to go. Wide receivers Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint will go on Saturday along with running backs Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards. Offensive linemen Amarius Mims and Sedrick Van Pran-Granger will wrap up the event on Sunday.
