Kirby Smart extends well wishes to Kelee Ringo after draft selection
Kelee Ringo‘s had to wait awhile before he was selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. Philadelphia took him with the No. 105 overall selection (fourth round), making it three Georgia players headed to the City of Brotherly Love in this draft and five in the past two drafts.
As as been the case with every Georgia pick thus far, Kirby Smart quickly took to Twitter to wish his former player well at the next level.
“Let’s go (Kelee Ringo)!! Can’t wait to see what you do in Philly. I know you’ve worked really hard for this & so happy you were able to reach your goals and more. I know you have such a bright future & I’m so excited. Hope you can come back to Athens sometime. GO DAWGS!!”
Smart has some fond memories of the former five-star quarterback. Ringo was a two-year starter at Georgia and both seasons resulted in National Championships. He’s most known for game-clinching interception and 79-yard touchdown return against Alabama in the 2021 National Championship game.
Ringo also had two big interceptions in 2022 against Tennessee and Kentucky and came up with a pass breakup on Ohio State’s final possession of the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl back in December.

Ringo as a prospect…
Ringo ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, the same place he picked off Bryce Young to seal the deal on the first of Georgia’s two National Championship wins. That time was good for a top 10 spot overall and to tie him for fifth among players at his position.
That shouldn’t surprise many as he was one of the most physically gifted prospect in the country coming out of high school. The On3 Industry Ranking viewed him as the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the 2020 class. Ringo was also the No. 1 prospect in Arizona.
Soon after making his way to UGA’s campus in 2020, late because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ringo had surgery to repair a torn labrum suffered in high school. He didn’t play at all that season and out dueled Ameer Speed for a starting cornerback job early in the 2021 season.
