Former Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones is considered to be one of the top prospects in this year’s NFL Draft. Almost unanimously predicted as a top-15 pick, Jones has an interesting mix of SEC experience, natural talent and untapped potential. That’s why draft experts believe the best is still to come for Jones.

“When you look at Broderick Jones, I think his best football is still ahead of him,” NFL Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah said. “He is incredibly strong. He is incredibly athletic. What he can do in the second level stuff and the run game as well as in the screen game is outstanding.”

“He sets a little bit of a unique set where he sets a little bit flat so there are times where guys can get upfield on him, but then he shows you the ability to recover and hang in there,” Jeremiah continued. “So, you know, maybe a little top-heavy at times. He gets a little overaggressive. He is a pretty physical player, but I think there’s a lot to really like about him. I think he could play either side. I think he could play right tackle. He could play left tackle. That would be — that’s why I had him going there. I think it would be a really good fit.”

Jones was a five-star-plus player coming out of Lithonia High School in the Class of 2020. Ranked the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class, he decided to stay in-state and sign with Georgia.

Things changed for Jones right away. Sam Pittman, who had recruited him, left for Arkansas and in came Matt Luke. He needed to add on some weight and took a redshirt year but was a contributing player on the Georgia offensive line before too long, starting four games in 2021.

Doing so helped Jones earn a spot on the Freshman All-SEC Team as voted on by the league’s coaches. He played in every game, primarily on special teams, and started the final four in place of Jamaree Salyer at left tackle. There was also extended reps at Auburn when Salyer went down with an injury. Then, in the National Championship Game with Georgia trailing Alabama, Jones was called upon once again and stepped in to help the Bulldogs come out on top.

Jones started all 15 games for Georgia in 2022, making the transition at left tackle one that went down without any worry. He earned All-SEC First-Team honors from the Associated Press as a part of an offensive line that allowed fewer than 10 sacks in a 15 game season, the first unit to do so.

Jones will take the field of Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday during the final day of the NFL Combine. Jones is one of 12 Georgia players that will be in attendance as the Bulldogs look to follow up last year’s record setting draft that saw 15 players picked including five in the first round.
