Nick Chubb motivated - not entertained - by Super Bowl
Nick Chubb didn’t get to play in the Super Bowl this season. He didn’t hide how he felt about that on Sunday night.
Chubb receives acclaim for his on-field NFL greatness all the time.
Unfortunately, he plays for the Cleveland Browns. In case you aren’t familiar with the NFL, Cleveland does not receive nearly as much acclaim for its own NFL greatness these days.
While Nick Chubb racks up rushing yards and touchdowns and highlight moments for a different Dawg Pound than the one he played for in college, it never results in Pro Football’s greatest summit:
The Super Bowl.
So as the Chiefs and Eagles played for the NFL’s top crown, Chubb was at home like many of us.
The game and the halftime show didn’t seem to entertain him, however.
Instead, the Browns’ absence motivated an already terrifying self-motivator of the highest order:
Fans in Nick Chubb’s mentions had a bummer of a common thread in their replies:
The Cleveland Browns haven’t played in a Super Bowl in Nick Chubb’s career, or ever.
They only made the playoffs once in Chubb’s NFL span – a 2020 trip to the Wild Card round with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Nick Chubb and Cleveland lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the ensuing AFC Divisional round.
The organization hasn’t even played for a conference championship since 1989.
Yes, the Cleveland Browns do have a few pro championships to their name. But they all happened before the Super Bowl’s inception.

As Chubb sits at home frustrated, many individuals in his mentions encouraged him to seek a change of scenery through a trade if he wants to play in a Super Bowl.
It certainly doesn’t seem like history is on the Georgia football great’s side.
Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL – especially not for a running back
Nick Chubb already has five NFL seasons under his belt.
He made it to the Pro Bowl four times in that stretch. Chubb earned those appearances with 6,341 rushing yards and 48 rushing touchdowns for the Browns.
But the NFL is a fickle mistress. And running backs like Chubb don’t grow on trees. He is the exception, not the rule, in pro football durability.
Maybe the Browns can turn it around, and deliver that highly-coveted Super Bowl appearance for their fanbase, and for Chubb.
With each passing year, however, it’s easy to wonder:
Doesn’t Nick Chubb deserve better?
