Georgia TE Pearce Spurlin to miss rest of spring with broken collarbone
Another of the 18 players early enrollees from Georgia’s 2023 class will miss significant time this spring. DawgsHQ has learned that Pearce Spurlin, a tight end out of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., suffered a broken right collarbone in the Bulldogs third spring practice on Saturday.
Spurlin wasn’t with the team during the media-viewing period of Georgia’s fourth spring practice on Tuesday. That’s because he was undergoing surgery to correct the injury. He will miss the remainder of spring drills but trusted sources tell DawgsHQ that a full recover is expected within the next eight to 10 weeks.
At 6-foot-6 240 pounds, Spurlin finished the 2023 recruiting cycle as the No. 68 overall prospect and No. 2 tight end per the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the nation’s No. 2 tight end and the No. 17 overall player in the Sunshine State.
“Lengthy tight end with twitch and a wide catch radius. Measured over 6-foot-5 and around 230 pounds with a 33.75-inch arm. Ultra productive offensive weapon that totaled 74 catches for 1,404 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior. Wins at the catch point with body control and explosiveness. Has a knack for bursting through arm tackles and getting upfield in a hurry. A willing blocker that looks to finish, just needs to continue adding play strength to become more productive in that role. Also plays basketball. Has a leaner build with plenty of room for growth – has added close to 30 pounds between his sophomore and senior years. Has the chance to be productive early on at the next level. Can become a complete tight end once he physically develops and becomes a greater force as a blocker in the run game.” — On3 Scouting
The talented tight end committed to Georgia in September of 2020, well over two years before he ever signed. Spurlin went on to take numerous visits to UGA but didn’t spend much time on other campuses other than school camps.

What the Spurlin injury means for the tight end room…
The injury leaves Georgia a bit thin at the tight end position for the next three-plus weeks. The Bulldogs have Mackey Award-winning tight end Brock Bowers and talented sophomore Oscar Delp as the top two options. Both have experience. Then there’s 2023 signee and early enrollee Lawson Luckie, who has impressed this spring.
Spurlin joins interior offensive lineman Joshua Miller as early enrollees who are on the shelf this spring. Kirby Smart announced eight days ago that Miller, due to a shoulder injury, would miss spring drills.
Georgia has completed four spring practices thus far. Two of those were in helmets only and the past two have been in shoulder pads. The Bulldogs will conduct eight more traditional practices and three scrimmages, including the annual G-Day Spring Scrimmage on April 15 at 4 p.m. ET.
