PHOTOS: Georgia Football in full pads for first time this fall
It’s day seven of fall camp for Georgia, and the Bulldogs finally get themselves a break. After six straight days of practice, Kirby Smart and company will let their bodies recover and rest in anticipation of the first scrimmage this coming Saturday. Of course they’ll amp it up again before then, but that’s the next big thing on the horizon. First Day? Check. Full Pads? Check. Scrimmage? Coming soon.
Before we turn our attention to that though, let’s take a look back at Georgia’s first day in full pads courtesy of Tony Walsh and the rest of our friends in the UGA Sports Communications department.
Georgia Wide Receivers
Bryan McClendon (first photo) is back in town coaching up his old position group. That’s got Adonai Mitchell (second photo), Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint (third photo), Ladd McConkey and Kearis Jackson (fourth photo) in great hands as they look to make their mark on the Georgia Football program, just like B-Mac did before them.
UGA Defensive Backs
Georgia has several competitions ongoing in the secondary including at cornerback, safety and STAR. All three positions are up for grabs, but based on what we saw yesterday at practice, Kamari Lassiter (first photo), Dan Jackson (second photo) and William Poole (third photo) were running with the ones in those spots respectively. Will the battle go on? Yes. Are the Bulldogs in a good spot regardless of how things turn out? Absolutely with the kind of talent that Kirby Smart and company have recruited. Let the best man win.
Bulldogs’ Backfield
Georgia’s backfield was recently ranked among the best in the country by On3. A big part of the reason why would be the return of Stetson Bennett at quarterback, the experience that he brings, the threat that he poses with his legs, and of course, the running back rotation that Georgia has on top of all that. Bennett (first photo) and Kenny McIntosh (second, third and fourth photo) are the oldest in that backfield and will look to lead the Bulldogs to another successful campaign offensively in 2022.

Georgia coaches Kirby Smart, Todd Hartley
These two Georgia alums are back in Athens coaching at their old stomping grounds. That’s got to be a great feeling, almost as good as winning a National Championship or having one of the top tight end rooms in the country.
Dawgs’ Defensive Line
The majority of the photos provided to us yesterday by UGA Sports Communications were of the defensive line. And that’s just fine considering the position has so much to replace and so many eyes on it in the process. Jalen Carter is the undoubted leader. But beyond him, others have to emerge. Nazir Stackhouse (second and third photos) and Warren Brinson (fifth photo) are options there, along with others. Meanwhile, on the outside at defensive end, the Bulldogs are replacing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Will it be the redshirt freshman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (fourth photo) or the experienced super-senior Tramel Walthour (sixth photo) that gets the starting nod? Keep an eye on this position group going forward as the talented Tray Scott (first photo) continues to develop the Dawgs and work wonders on his defensive line.
Georgia returns to the practice field on Thursday for its seventh practice of the fall. The Bulldogs scrimmage for the first time this season at Sanford Stadium on Saturday.
