ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia players reported for preseason camp earlier this week and after Kirby Smart and three players spoke to media on Thursday, it practiced for the first time. The Bulldogs are in helmets and spider pads for the first two days. Media was invited in for about 20 minutes of the workout and below, DawgsHQ shares some scenes from the day’s action.

The Mays High School product is expected to be a major piece for the Georgia defense in his second season. Johnson made a lot of noise last preseason camp but wasn’t quite able to break through in a veteran group. The Bulldogs lost five EDGE players at the end of the season and his time is now.

UGA EDGE Gabe Harris

It’s year three for the former four-star prospect. Harris has played significant snaps in each of his first two years at Georgia. A serious uptick in playing time is expected in 2025 as Harris will play some outside linebacker and some defensive end for the Bulldogs.

Georgia OLB Kris Jones

After signing with Georgia to play inside linabacker, Jones made the move to outside linebacker in the spring. There hasn’t been much good buzz about the move thus far but there has also been zero negative chatter. Jones struggled with injuries in year one at UGA.

UGA EDGE Isaiah Gibson

The freshman and former five-star prospect will be used similarly to Harris. Gibson will play some outside linebacker. He’ll also put his hand in the ground. He was the top EDGE in the 2025 class because of his length, physicality, and ability to both get after the passer and shut down the run. Georgia might need him right away.

Georgia OLB Elo Modozie

The former Army standout was originally signed as a wideout. He made the move to defense where he played a nickel position in 2023. He packed on some weight and moved to EDGE the following season where he flourished. Georgia made him a priority when he entered the spring transfer portal window and got him to sign soon after.

UGA OLB Chase Linton

The Atlanta native was committed to Rutgers for a significant portion of the 2025 cycle, but Georgia swooped in and got him on its commitment list. Linton is clearly the lightest EDGE player on the roster but he’s long, explosive, and the early word is that he’s as physical as the come.

Georgia OLB Darren Ikinnagbon

The New Jersey native committed to Georgia fairly early in the 2025 cycle and never looked back. He’s a true 6-foot-5, 250 pounds and has a college-ready frame already. Sources tell DawgsHQ that Ikinnagbon is already one of the hardest workers on the roster.

UGA TE Jaden Reddell

The Missouri native spent last season learning the ropes behind a veteran trio of tight ends. One of those guys left and now he steps into that No. 3 role with a chance to show what he can do. Reddell flashed some speed in Georgia’s spring scrimmage but also suffered a high-ankle sprain. After tight rope surgery in the days after, he’s full go for preseason camp.

Georgia TE Ethan Barbour

Barbour was committed to Georgia long before he signed on the dotted line. He’s coming off a standout senior season at Milton where he caught touchdown passes, ran a few in as a Wildcat quarterback, and proved to be a physical blocker. Those close to the program have been impressed with his reliable hands and ability to make things happen after the catch.

UGA QB Hezekiah Millender

After moving from Arizona to Athens to improve his chances of being recruited, Millender ended up signing with the hometown Georgia Bulldogs. He was initially committed to Boise State before UGA pushed for a commitment late in the process.

Georgia DE Joseph Jonah-Ajonye

The former five-star prospect is in his second season at Georgia but he’s only 18 years old. He won’t turn 19 until November. Prior to having foot surgery in October, an injury that knocked him out for the rest of the season, Jonah-Ajonye was earning meaningful snaps. He’s expected to take on a lot of snaps at defensive end in 2025.

UGA DL Jordan Hall

Another former five-star prospect along Georgia’s defensive line, Hall spent most of the 2024 season trying to come back from stress fractures in each leg. He sustained the injuries while trying to participate in extra conditioning prior to camp. Hall played a lot as a freshman and was able to take a redshirt last season.

Georgia DB Zion Branch

Both Zion and his brother Zachariah transferred to Georgia in the January window, choosing the Bulldogs over a myriad of other offers. He’s from Las Vegas, and Kirby Smart has praised him for how much work he puts in. Injuries have slowed his career to this point. When healthy, he has been impressive. Branch had a strong showing in the spring scrimmage.

The former Alabama State and UAB defensive back transferred to Georgia in January. He was initially committed to Florida before flipping to the Bulldogs. He played some STAR in the G-Day game but he was working exclusively with the safeties during the media-viewing period of practice No. 1. He hails from Conyers, Ga.
