Georgia outside linebacker Robert Beal was a super-senior this past season. His NFL Draft intentions were known going in without any eligibility remaining. However, on Friday before the Bulldogs celebrate their National Championship with a parade on Saturday, Beal shared one final message for Georgia fans on social media.

“To the fans, students, faculty and staff at UGA, thank you for everything that you have done for me during my time here. To my coaches, I appreciate all of you for pushing me to become the best version of myself on and off the football field. To my teammates, you have made my time here the best experience of my life. Going to war with each of you is something that I will never forget. Thank you my brothers. I do not take for granted all that we have accomplished on and off the field together. That being said, I am excited for what the future holds as I prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft.”

Beal played in 54 career games at Georgia including all 30 the last two seasons. He was on campus in 2017 and redshirted. Then, in 2018, he had 15 tackles, playing primarily on special teams. He did however have a strong outing at LSU that season with four tackles including a quarterback sack for 12 yards and two QB pressures.

Beal didn’t see a ton of action the next two seasons and entered the transfer portal headed into the 2021. He eventually decided to withdraw his name and return, a decision that seemed to pay off both for Beal and the Bulldogs as he led the team in sacks on their way to the program’s first National Championship in over four decades. Beal opted to return in 2022 and played alongside Nolan Smith early in the season. Then, after Smith suffered a season-ending injury against Florida, Beal was Georgia’s No. 1 outside linebacker for the remainder of the season, credited with a season-high four tackles including one for loss in an SEC Championship win over LSU. That TFL was a sack, one of three he had on the season. Beal finished his career out with three tackles including a sack in the 2023 National Championship Game against TCU.
