Ryan Puglisi earned a fourth star in On3's rankings: Here's how
Georgia quarterback commit Ryan Puglisi picked up a fourth star in On3’s recruiting rankings. He’s a fast riser in the class of 2024.
Puglisi committed to Georgia over the weekend, a day after his visit to the Dawgs’ game against Vanderbilt.
On3 Director of Recruiting, Chad Simmons, already made a RPM prediction for Puglisi a few weeks back. At that point, the 6-2, 195 pound quarterback out of Avon, Conn., only had three stars in On3’s recruiting rankings.
Like clockwork, by lunch time the day after his commitment, Ryan Puglisi had a fourth star next to his name in On3’s rankings, and in the consensus rankings.
The updated On3 rankings for the class of 2024 took Puglisi from not ranked, to ranked 39th.
So how did it happen? I spoke with On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings, Charles Power, for some insight.
Ryan Puglisi’s rise didn’t happen overnight
Puglisi transferred from from Groton, Massachusetts’s Lawrence Academy between his sophomore and junior seasons.
Now that he’s playing at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut, it’s easier to get a grip on his game.
“First off, it was a little difficult to maybe track down some of the stuff from his sophomore season,” Power told me.

Gators faithful react to Billy Napier news
“I think really where he came on the radar nationally was in the camp setting. He had a really, really strong Elite 11 workout in the spring. This ranking update for us was our first in five months. A lot has happened since that time, and Ryan Puglisi’s a pretty good example that a lot has transpired since then.”
Puglisi also had a strong showing at Georgia’s camp sessions, and other schools as well
The camp circuit certainly helped Ryan Puglisi’s name recognition nationally.
But he proved his worth in front of the ultimate decision-makers: college football coaches.
“That (talent) also showed up in college camps. He went and camped at Georgia. Camped at Alabama, got offers from both. Camped at Notre Dame,” Power said.
“Everything we heard from all those college camp stops was nothing but praise. Prior to the season, I went back and watched a lot of his camp footage, watched the stuff from the Elite 11, and I think the first thing that jumps out with Puglisi is the arm strength is considerable. There’s moments in that Elite 11 workout where it almost looks like there’s smoke coming off the ball.”

One more nugget from that convo with Charles – which current college quarterback comes to mind when he watches Puglisi?
Kentucky’s Will Levis.
With the recruiting classes that Kirby Smart’s staff builds year in and year out, that’s potentially a dangerous combo for years to come on the offensive side of the ball.
