Ryland Goede, Tate Ratledge share story behind players podcast
It’s the offseason. While of course there are workouts – and there’s still school to do – players have more free time on their hands than they do during the height of it all in the fall. Some fill that by attending other Georgia sporting events, playing basketball at the rec center or other various activities. For Ryland Goede and Tate Ratledge, the offseason means more time for them to explore the world of podcasting.
Goede and Ratledge started the podcast last August. It comes after a wave of player-led podcasts across all sports have emerged in recent years. Goede and Ratledge found inspiration from NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan’s Bussin’ With the Boys.
“It’s been a blast,” Goede told DawgsHQ. The motivation behind it, shoutout to Bussin’ With the Boys with Taylor Lewan and Will Compton, those are two guys that we had watched a ton of and said, ‘No one is really doing this at the college level, and what a great year to do it after winning the Natty.’ So that’s why we started that.”
“It just kind of gave us something else to do outside of football,” Ratledge added. “It’s been a lot of fun.”
Goede said that he and Ratledge are planning a trip up to Nashville this spring with the greater amount of time on their hands and hope to be able to get in touch with Compton and Lewan to collab with them on a show.

While they wait on word from Compton and Lewan the guest list hasn’t been too shabby. Several Georgia players have come on the show including a couple in their position groups. Quarterbacks, offensive lineman and tight ends have done that while the defensive side of the ball has featured individuals including Christen Miller and Warren Brinson. It’s not just a Georgia Football show though. Musicians like Ray Fulcher, Logan Crosby and Gavin Adcock have joined before. They’ve gotten into some Georgia Baseball as well with Cole Wilcox, Tony Locey and Jaden Woods. Former offensive line coach Matt Luke who helped recruit Ratledge to Georgia and coached him his first two years on campus made an appearance as well. Some “soft rumors” of guests named by the hosts included Kevin Kisner and Thomas Rhett.
Both Goede and Ratledge said that they are open to the possibility of doing podcasting as a career once football is done. Goede was even a journalism major at UGA with a certificate in sports media before announced his transfer to Mississippi State for next season.
Ratledge will be back and is expected to be a big part of the Georgia offensive line.
What that separation means for the future of the podcast is still up in the air. However, for the time being, the two are spending their fair share of time in the recording studio creating content all Georgia fans will enjoy.
