Georgia saw 10 of its players enter the transfer portal after it opened on December 5. Another of that group has found a new home. Ryland Goede, a Kennesaw Mountain High School product and former four-star prospect, is staying in the SEC and will play at Mississippi State.

Goede made the announcement via Twitter and also noted that his wife, Alexa Fortin, will also be transferring. Fortin played volleyball for Georgia.

The 2022 season saw Goede appear in 10 of 15 games. He played in six games during the 2021 season and that was his first action in two seasons. Goede missed the entire 2020 season after having shoulder surgery. He played in two games as a freshman in 2019.

Goede’s time at Georgia was seriously hampered by injuries. He dealt with multiple ailments and it started when he was in high school. He suffered a torn ACL during his senior season and spent his first few months on campus trying to come back from that. Goede leaves UGA without having caught a pass.

As a prospect, Goede was the nation’s No. 214 overall player and No. 9 tight end per the industry-generated, equally weighted On3 Consensus. He was the No. 24 player in Georgia.
