Stetson Bennett, Heisman finalists share on best dressed for big night
NEW YORK — Stetson Bennett and his fellow Heisman finalists are headed to the Lincoln Center. After meeting with the media for the pre-trophy presentation press conference, it’s down the street to the exclusive event to hand out the most prestigious award in all of College Football. Of course it calls for the finalists to dress to impress.
“Other than myself? I’m going to go CJ (Stroud),” USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the overwhelming favorite, said. “I like the red. I liked the red. USC’s got a little red in it, so I like it.”
“Ohio State has a little red too, you know? But nah, I think everybody looks really good,” Stroud shared in his response. “I know Stetson’s got the tie for it, looking real nice. I told Max — he was a little worried about his suit, but I think he looks fly. Caleb’s got some Gucci on, you know what I’m saying? I think everybody looks good though.”
Williams and Stroud likely had the two most expensive outfits with Williams wearing Gucci and Stroud representing his Ohio State jersey number around his neck with a diamond studded chain. On the other hand, Bennett admitted that his was less thought out while TCU’s Max Duggan was simply focused on not standing out in the wrong way.
“Yeah, I was trying just not to embarrass myself with everybody else. I was making sure, you know, I was trying to keep up with these guys,” Duggan joked. “But all these guys are kind of making me look down right so. I’ll try to hold it up for everybody right now.”

“If we go by what I’m most likely to wear, I’m going to go Max,” Bennett added about Duggan’s purple and gray attire. “If we’re going by nice, I mean, I’d imagine Caleb’s — he left that tag on on purpose. His is really pretty nice.”
Bennett shared the story of how his suit came about. He wasn’t sure whether he’d be a finalist at all until Monday so he hadn’t thought about it much. Furthermore, he was busy at the Burlsworth Award presentation in Arkansas, so when he got back to the Peach State, he took a quick trip to Atlanta to pick something out.
“I drove to Atlanta. It was late, and I was like, ‘Well, I need a suit for this thing and I want to look nice because it’s the Heisman Trophy,'” Bennett said. “So I drove up there, thought it was going to be like a quick — like, wedding tux sizing. No. It took a lot longer. So, I got that done, just picked it out, just black. I like this tie.”
The Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony takes place tonight, Saturday, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. Bennett is guaranteed a top-four finish as one of the finalists in New York. The rest of the top-10 vote getters were announced Thursday.
