Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is a little bigger than most expected him to be according to his official measurements at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. He also ran a rock-solid 40-time that will only help him raise his draft stock.

The two-time National Championship triggerman posted a time of 4.67 seconds on his first run. That time is unofficial, as is his second try of 4.74.

Bennett measured in at 5-foot-11 on the dot and 192 pounds on Saturday. His hand size was measured at 10 inches.

Big game experience another positive…

The former walk-on appeared in six post-season games as a Bulldog — two SEC Championship games, two College Football Playoff Semifinal games, and two National Championships. He won MVP in five of those six contests.

He’s no stranger to the bright lights and that’s another feather in his cap.

“A thousand percent. I think once you’re in that situation, you know what the situation is. You understand everything that comes with it, you can handle it, you know how to prepare,” Bennett told reporters on Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, site of his first national title. “I think it definitely – for me, it was always the unknown. What does this championship, oooo ahhh, look like? It’s a game, and you’ve got to play well in it. All the lights in the world don’t matter if you don’t win. So just go win.”

Bennett answers to off-field incident…

It wasn’t long ago that Bennett found himself in a situation that could only hurt his draft stock. After turning down a chance to play in more than one senior showcase game, Bennett was arrested in Dallas, Tex. for public intoxication.

He spoke for the first time about that on Friday.

“Yeah, it was a mistake that, you know, everybody is aware of,” Bennett said. “I understand why that can’t happen. It was… I’ve talked to coaches, talked to GMs, apologized to my family. That’s who I felt worse about. I felt like I let them down because no matter where I go now… even without all this, I’ve got an obligation. I’m the fourth, can’t do that if you’re last name is Bennett and I know better.”
