Stetson Bennett is no longer a game manager: The Georgia Show

Stetson Bennett isn’t a ‘game manager’ anymore. The Georgia quarterback showed us something at Mississippi State over the weekend.
Yes, he had two interceptions on the stat sheet. He probably could have had one more.
But go back and watch the game.
Those thread-the-needle throws to Kearis Jackson and Ladd McConkey.
The touchdown he scored with his feet had ESPN commentator Todd Blackledge asking a Mississippi State defender, “Where is your athletic supporter?”
It ain’t exactly a Larry Munson ‘Hobnail Boot,’ but it made me chuckle.
And don’t forget all of the pre-snap adjustments Bennett makes to keep this Dawgs offense humming.
Stetson Bennett probably won’t climb back into the Heisman race now. He had too many bumps along the way this season, and hasn’t passed for enough touchdowns. Fine.
Still, he’s everything Todd Monken needs him to be in this offense, and more.
Georgia’s getting a lot more out of the Mailman than it got out of him last season.
And that’s bad news for any defense that has to face the Dawgs’ super senior.
If that Stetson Bennett monologue got you fired up, there’s more where it came from on The Georgia Show
The DawgsHQ crew gathers each Sunday and Wednesday at 8:30PM ET, and after every Georgia football game, for The Georgia Show.
I spoke with Jake Rowe and Palmer Thombs about their observations from the game, since they made the trip to lovely Starkvegas for the contest.
Just as Stetson Bennett had his highs and lows, the Dawgs’ offensive line, defensive secondary and special teams had some ‘what’s going on?’ moments of their own against the other Bulldogs.
Even Kirby Smart’s clock management had the Dawgs scratching their heads.
Despite all of that, Georgia beat a previously undefeated-at-home SEC team in their house by 26 points.

LSU clinched a SEC Championship date with Georgia on the same day that Georgia clinched a SEC Championship date with LSU.
Kentucky still looms this week. If one can still loom after losing at home to Vanderbilt, that is.

And yes, Georgia Tech will still make the trip to Athens, despite all of the evidence as to why it shouldn’t.
But we also heaped praised on Georgia tight ends Darnell Washington and Brock Bowers for their talent in the Dawgs’ offense. It feels like it should be illegal to have both on the same team.
Rowe and Thombs shared some insight into the Dawgs’ defense, and how it adjusts on the fly so quickly.
And we shared our weekly Dawg Stocks report, with our own takes on what’s going up… or trending down… for Georgia football these days.
The Georgia Show as a whole is trending up, and it’s because of Dawgs like you who support it.
