The question of who will be Georgia’s starting quarterback against UAB has now been answered. With JT Daniels limited due to an upper-body injury, Stetson Bennett will get the start for Kirby Smart and company according to the starting lineups announced on the Sanford Stadium video board.

Today marks the sixth career start for Bennett after starting five games last season. After coming in in relief of D’Wan Mathis in the 2020 season-opener and leading the Bulldogs to a come-from-behind victory, Bennett made starts against Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Florida. Georgia went 3-2 in those games. On the season, Bennett threw for 1,179 yards and eight touchdowns.

Other quarterbacks available for the Bulldogs today include Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff. Beck has played in one career game, not attempting a pass in fourth-quarter action. However, in Georgia’s G-Day scrimmage in the spring, he did throw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 22-of-31 passing. Meanwhile, Vandagriff is a true freshman and any action today would be the first of his career. He too played in the spring game, completing six of nine passes for 47 yards.
