After Braelen Bridges announced his intentions to return for his super-senior season, Georgia Basketball didn’t have to wait long for more good news. Bradley transfer Terry Roberts announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Instagram Monday afternoon after visiting Athens over the weekend.

Roberts, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game last season as he shot 35 percent from 3-point range, earning First-Team All-Missouri Valley in the process. Roberts played in 31 games and reached double-figures 24 times including a season-high 26 against UTEP on December 22. He also added a season-high 11 rebounds in that game, one of two times that Roberts reached double-figures for rebounds. He was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week as well as Newcomer of the Week for his efforts against the Miners. Roberts also earned Newcomer of the Week honors three other times and was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year.

Roberts was previously at Florida SouthWestern State where he played with Georgia’s leading scorer this past season, Kario Oquendo. The two will reunite in Athens in 2022-23 as a key part of the roster that first-year head coach Mike White is building.

It’s been a busy offseason as it relates to the transfer portal for Georgia with nine Bulldog players – Dalen Ridgnal, Cam McDowell, Tyrone Baker, Christian Wright, Josh Taylor, Tyron McMillan, Jaxon Etter, Jonathan Ned and Noah Baumann – that are either currently in the transfer portal or have committed elsewhere. However, landing Roberts marks the second player that White has gotten from the transfer portal, joining Justin Hill, who averaged 14.2 points per game last season for the Lancers on their way to the NCAA Tournament.

As it stands, Roberts and Hill are two of five players currently on the roster (Bridges, Oquendo and Jabri Abdur-Rahim). Georgia is still waiting for confirmation on Jailyn Ingram’s status, however Ingram has expressed that should his waiver for a medical redshirt last season and thus an extra year of eligibility be approved by the NCAA, he will be back.
