Terry Roberts declares for NBA Draft after senior season at Georgia
Terry Roberts is headed pro. After just a single season in Athens, the Georgia guard announced that he’s entering the NBA Draft on Instagram Monday afternoon.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game of basketball at the highest level. Without him, none of this is possible! After reflection, much prayer and transparent discussion with my family and team, I have decided it is in my best interest to declare for the 2023 NBA Draft,” Roberts wrote in a statement. “I want to thank the entire foundation of this journey, my former coaches at Believe Prep Academy, FSW (Florida SouthWestern), Bradley and the Georgia coaching staff for pushing me to become a better man as well as a student athlete day in and day out. Lastly I want to give a big thank you to Dawg Nation, my teammates and the fans! Thank you for the unwavering support, through trial and era, we did something special!”
The New York native joined Georgia from Bradley in 2022. There, in 2021-22, he started all 31 games for the Braves and led the team in scoring, assists and steals. He did the same thing at Georgia in 2022-23. Roberts averaged a team-high 13.2 points per game with 116 assists on the season, the only Georgia player to top the 100-assist mark. Roberts started 26 of his 29 games in a Bulldog uniform battling a concussion midway through the SEC slate that slowed him down and kept him off the court and out of the starting lineup for a little while. Still, Roberts played the most minutes of any Georgia player this season with 872, an average of 30.1 minutes per game.

Roberts had a season-high 26 in Georgia’ SEC opening win over a ranked Auburn team in January, part of a 3-1 start to the conference slate for the Bulldogs. That was one of five games in which he reached the 20-point mark and one of 21 that he reached double-figures. Roberts scored 10 or more points in 14 straight games prior to suffering a concussion against Auburn the second go-around. He did so just three times in the final nine games he played.
Roberts joins the rest of Georgia’s senior class in leaving the program. Five players were recognized on senior night. Braelen Bridges, Jailyn Ingram and Mardrez McBride are out of eligibility using their last this past season while former walk-on Jaxon Etter expressed to reporters that he will not be playing College Basketball in 2023-24.
