The biggest turkeys of Georgia's 2022 football season. Gobble gobble

Georgia’s football team navigated through its share of turkeys, even before Thanksgiving week. So we decided we’d put together a loose list that highlights the biggest gobblers of the bunch.

The qualifications for this list are simple.

If you spoke out with a hot take about the Dawgs, and they proved ya wrong, then you’re a turkey.

Some turkeys didn’t even make our mentions, due to the extreme turkey nature of these fellas here.

Take a break from basting your own bird. Wash your hands. It’s time to let the Big Dawgs eat.

The first Georgia football turkeys showed up this summer

SEC Network talents Takeo Spikes and Roman Harper – two former SEC players in their own rights – got the gobble party started.

Each analyst predicted that a different SEC east foe would or could or should upset Georgia.

Spikes proclaimed at SEC Media Days that South Carolina would derail the Dawgs’ undefeated season early on, in Georgia’s first road game.

Harper, meanwhile, hedged his bet somewhat. He said Tennessee would knock off *either* Alabama or Georgia.

That’s a winner, but it was turkey stuff to say that the Vols would beat Georgia at home.

But credit to him for predicting the upset over his Tide.

November brought out all the other Georgia – Tennessee turkeys

Fittingly, Thanksgiving month ushered in all of the other Georgia football turkeys.

First, there was Erik Ainge.

He may be the ringleader in this whole feast of foolishness.

After Kirby Smart urged his fans to make all the noise their lungs could muster, Ainge poked the bear. He poked it with a sharp, annoying, and painful stick.

But the pain didn’t hurt Georgia.

It just eviscerated the Vols, instead.

Ainge wasn’t the only pregame poultry

No, a few anonymous scouts and coaches also decided the Dawgs weren’t worthy of a win.

Suffice it to say, the scouts who said Georgia would miss William Poole, might give up 50 points, and didn’t have enough offensive threats, got plucked.

Once Georgia mopped the floor with the Vols, another Turkey emerged from hiding

Rick Neuheisel claimed Georgia would lose to Tennessee if the teams found themselves in a CFP rematch.

I wasn’t buying it.

I addressed the notion in general on an episode of The Georgia Show.

Georgia’s dominance was obvious in its first matchup with Tennessee.

Vols fans thought that a neutral field might help Tennessee commit fewer penalties. But penalties are just a part of Tennessee’s DNA this season – no matter where it plays.

Factor in the fact that Kirby Smart teams are undefeated in rematches, and I just didn’t see it happening.

While the Vols dreamt of that day, South Carolina had its chicken feet firmly planted in reality.

And the biggest turkeys of the 2022 College Football season got gobbled right up to the tune of 63 points allowed.
