The Georgia Show: Instant reaction to CFP rankings 3.0 | Did Georgia get a raw deal?
The Week 13 College Football Playoff rankings are out and it certainly seems like very little sense is being made. Georgia fell nine spots last week after falling to Ole Miss on the road. After returning home to beat then-No. 7 Tennessee, the Bulldogs are up two spots to No. 10 and firmly inside the playoff cut line.
With that said, there are some things that just aren’t lining up. Rusty Mansell and I dive headfirst into that pool as we discuss how bad of a look this is for the committee. Penn State sits at No. 4 with its best win over the No. 25 team in the country and it’s loss coming at home to No. 2 Ohio State.
Notre Dame has two ranked wins over Texas A&M and Louisville, yet it’s home loss to 6-5, Group-of-Five school Northern Illinois appears to be as far as the East is from the West in the committee’s collective mind. Those resumes, one fewer loss than Georgia or not, just don’t stack up.
So where could the Bulldogs wind up when the dust settles? Schedules aren’t exactly tough for anybody in front of Georgia and it needs to take care of its own business, but there are a few spots where some chaos could benefit this team.

We discuss Notre Dame’s upcoming schedule because that one is key. Should Indiana lose to Ohio State and fall behind the Bulldogs in next week’s rankings, it would set up a No. 7 vs. No. 10 matchup between the Fighting Irish and UGA. That would mean a trip back to South Bend where Kirby Smart got a signature win in his second season as Georgia’s head coach.
There’s still a lot of football left to be played and things could work out swimmingly for the Bulldogs. But that’s going to require some teams that aren’t in the playoff picture upsetting some teams that are. These College Football Playoff rankings are under fire and the committee needs a bailout.
