Tiger Woods, 'Bulldog Colors' and Peyton Manning: Never Forget
Tiger Woods announced he feels like he will play in the 2022 Masters.
Should he make it to Sunday after almost losing his leg (!) in a car accident, then of course, we’ll see Tiger don his traditional Sunday red and black.
At Augusta National, those colors mean Tiger Woods is ready to devour the field.
Golfers know that danger is near, regardless of where their names sit on those green and white leaderboards.
It inspires many a golf fan.
It inspired me to support Tiger with my attire as we recorded the Marty Smith Podcast before a live Savannah River Brewing Co. audience in Augusta, Ga. on Sunday:
Tiger Woods or not, those colors also mean a lot to many a Georgia Bulldog fan
Tiger Woods played golf at Stanford.
Still, he picked a color combination that is scientifically proven to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing out of all color combinations*.

There are plenty of Dawgs pulling for plenty of Dawgs in the 2022 Masters.
On some level, they all appreciate Tiger’s red and black striking fear in the hearts of opponents, just like Georgia’s red and black does.
You see a lot of college colors on caps and quarter zips roaming the grounds of Augusta National.
Amen Corner is a melting pot of collegiate fans, who all have a reason to speak to one another sans cell phones.
If you’re the fan of a Georgia rival, you don’t appreciate Tiger’s apparel quite as much
Just ask Peyton Manning.
Never forget the time he played in “The Match” with Tiger Woods, Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson.
Manning’s comments to Charles Barkley (someone who also loves to give NBA on TNT co-host Ernie Johnson a hard time about the Dawgs) revealed a lot about his competitive nature with Kirby Smart.
Now, Peyton Manning’s Vols swept the Dawgs during his time (1994-1997) in Knoxville.
That includes three wins against Kirby Smart.
However, Kirby Smart did record one interception against Manning. So he’ll always have that.

Peyton Manning is keenly aware of Georgia’s success. He’s seen it up close on the Tennessee sideline.
Vols fans even have a superstition about it, because UT is yet to beat Georgia in recent memory when Manning attends a game.
(Maybe it has more to do with where the Dawgs have been as a program, and not as much to do with Peyton, but that’s impossible to prove.)
For now, I think we all – Tennessee and Georgia fans alike – can just appreciate the unique time that is Masters week.
I don’t think Tiger wearing red and black helps Kirby Smart in his recruitment of Arch Manning.
But if there’s a will on Georgia’s social media team, there’s a way, as Peyton alluded to.
At any rate, we can all agree that this photo twists our brains.
