Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken is the latest of football assistants to get a pay raise after the Bulldogs won the National Championship in January. Monken will make $2 million, a $750,000 raise from the $1.25 million he made last season. The Athens-Banner Herald was first to report.

Monken is now among the highest paid assistant coaches in the country. Last season Brent Venables made $2.5 million as the Clemson defensive coordinator while Tony Elliott made $2.15 million as the offensive coordinator for the Tigers. Both are now head coaches at Oklahoma and Virginia respectively. Meanwhile, former Texas A&M defensive coordinator and now Duke head coach Mike Elko made $2.1 million last season.

In his two seasons with the program, Monken has been of a huge help for Georgia offensively. The Bulldogs ranked No. 9 in the country for scoring offense last season, averaging 38.6 points per game.

Expectations are high once again for Todd Monken’s group in 2022. Stetson Bennett returns at quarterback while there are plenty of weapons around him that contributed last season. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell caught the go-ahead touchdown in the National Championship and seems to have made a jump from his freshman to sophomore season. Kearis Jackson, who led the team in receiving in 2020, and Ladd McConkey are also back. Meanwhile, the tight end room is as loaded as any position group in the country with the likes of Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington and Arik Gilbert in the fold. Kenny McIntosh and Kendall Milton are expected to spearhead the backfield for the Bulldogs.
